For easy reference the book has the same version number as the appropriate template, and should be considered as the educational module to that template. Every single file, each row and each word of the template will be explained. It is the essential go to reference manual for creating your own template project and has been proven in practice.
Note!
The 2nd edition of the e-book is currently in progress. The e-book, which is offerd here, has the number 1.2.8 and describes large parts of the current version. However, there are no contributions to Foundation, SASS and LESS. Readers of the first edition will get a discounted offer for the second one.

Full Product Description
The Blank Template is a good starting point for any new template project in Joomla. It is a fully functional template (it can be directly installed) and comes with support for tablets, smart phones and Internet Explorer 9, 8 and 7. While the Internet Explorer 7 should be history of the past, HTML5 and CSS3 are the future. For this the Blank Template is sufficiently prepared. HTML5 tags that can be interpreted correctly by all browsers, are used now already, although the relevant specifications shall be passed in 2014. With PIE, the Progressive Internet Explorer (JavaScript), it is possible to use CSS3 compliant browser attributes. Be it colour gradients, rounded corners and shadow; for those effects images are no longer necessary, but only pure CSS. A further JavaScript is being used called "Modernizr". This script was written (amongst others) by Paul Irish (Google) and is used to determine which HTML and CSS properties are supported by the browser. Based on the Modernizr script, classes and properties are assigned to declare fall-back solutions e.g. for older browsers. The CSS resets (CSS-reset) all default values for distances and sizes accordingly. So you can start from scratch designing your Web site. The upstream compressor pre-loads compressed versions of all style sheets. Hence the browser needs only one (programming) line to load a single CSS. No higher browser performance can be achieved here. As an advanced feature, it is even possible to use CSS variables. What...? CSS and variables...? Yes, this can be accomplished indeed with PHP! Such variables are well suited to determine parameters in regards to the design.
